SPRING AERATING

Spring is the perfect time to encourage thicker turf growth, increase nutrient exchange, and promote the health of your lawn.

WHY AERATE AFTER WINTER

Winter is a tough season for lawns. Although the grass appears to stop growing in the winter, we only observe 1/2 of the plant. Below the surface, the grass is storing nutrients and developing a robust root system. So, as winter progresses nutrients are slowly depleted from the soil and it becomes compacted.

WHAT DOES GRASS NEED IN THE SPRING?

Spring is a time of revitalization. Once the ground thaws and temperatures rise, plants use a tremendous amount of resources to break out of dormancy.  Grass needs an increased amount of nutrients during the spring to sustain vigorous growth.  Aerating solves compaction issues and nutrients become more accessible to the lawn.

Lawn Mowing Services

The right cut equals a healthy lawn

Overgrown lawns will be easily infested with pests. Both tall grass and weeds are the best home for rodents and bugs that can ruin the appearance of your lawn and spread various diseases. Having a well-maintained lawn with lots of curb appeal requires more knowledge than you may think and as seasoned landscape and lawn care consultants we have years of applied knowledge and demonstrated expertise of different grass types. We are Turf and Landscape Professionals.

Lawn Aeration Services

Why aerating helps your Lawn

Aeration creates holes down into the soil to alleviate compaction so air, water, and nutrients can reach grass roots.  Deprived of their basic needs by compacted soil, a variety of lawn grass types struggle in stressful situations, such as heat and low rainfall, and lose their healthy rich color, and become susceptible to disease.

Aeration is a process that has no ill side effects. Even the small plugs left behind by core-type aerators are beneficial for a beautiful lawn.

Lawn Fertilization Services

The importance of fertilization

Over-time, soil will naturally lose many  nutrients that are needed to grow vibrant blades of grass. When fertilizing  your lawn, these nutrients will help it to grow deeper roots and become  healthy. It will become greener, thicker, and luxurious. Fertilization will not only help your lawn look great, but it will also help your lawn last longer. The fertilizers contain the essential nutrients required by the plants, including nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus.

FALL AERATING

Another good time for aeration is during the fall season, when the grass can heal and fill in any open areas after soil plugs are removed. Ideally, aerate the lawn with cool season grass in the early spring or fall (Tall Fescue) and those with warm season grass (Bermuda) in the late spring.

WHY AERATE IN THE FALL

Fall aeration helps prepare your lawn for its winter dormancy. When combined with over-seeding, it can help improve your lawn’s resistance to disease and insects. As the lawn thickens, it can also crowd out weeds, making for a smoother, cleaner-looking lawn.

WHAT DOES GRASS NEED IN THE FALL?

Even though your lawn may appear to be slowing down in the fall, your efforts this time of year make a lasting impact. Fall aeration strengthens your turf’s roots, helps the turf survive the winter while making it hearty and healthy and ready for next spring.
